The online assignments can be submitted now.
The first volume of the reader (Introduction, glossary, and chapters

by Thursday after class.
16 January 2006
You must submit
Assignment -1 and
Assignment 0
by 11:59pm, 24 January 2006, to keep or to add this class.
Anyone who has not submitted the assignments by then will be dropped from the
class or from the waiting list.
Those assignments should not take you very long.
Use your email address (as recorded in CalNet as of the beginning of the term)
as the ID, and your student ID number as the password.
If you are a concurrent enrollment student, please see me after the first
lecture to set up a special ID to access the assignments.
Note: the assignments cannot be submitted yet, but it should be possible
to submit them by tonight. I will post an announcment when the server can
accept submissions.
Meanwhile, you can view the assignments and start working on them.
I will not hold office hours on Thursday, 19 January.
Please read the syllabus
and general class information right away.
Note, in particular, the email policy: send email to the TAs, not
to me, unless you are reporting a bug or a typo.
TAs will forward to me email they cannot answer themselves.
