High Tech Salaries

The data in the file salary.dat consists of the results of a survey of computer professionals around the country, broken up by five regions (Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest and West Coast.) The data is organized by job title, with each region/job title combination appearing as a single line in the file. The region names appear on a line immediately before the data for that region. Thus each job title is represented five times, one for each of the regions. The variables in the file are
  1. Job Title
  2. Median Value for the low end of the range of salaries for the job in on of the five regions
  3. Overall Median Value for the job in one of the five regions
  4. Median Value for the high end of the range of salaries for the job in one of the five regions.

All of the numeric variables have embedded commas; the fields are separated from each other by colons (:).
