Choose Split
The "Choose Split" button pops up a separate window for creating
histograms. The purpose is to let you choose a variable on which to split
the data set. For example, you may wish to split the data set on the variable
Gender (split into females and males) or Height (split into those over
6 feet tall and those 6 feet tall or under.) Here are the steps:
-
Choose a variable and create the histogram:
-
Select a varible from the variable list at the right
-
Type in the number of bins you wish in the space next to "# of Bins:"
-
Click on the "Update" button
-
Choose a value of the variable on which to split:
-
Click on the histogram at the point you wish to split the data. The histogram
will turn green for the value to the right of where you clicked. You can
try different clicks until you have the one you like.
-
If you are satisfied with your splitting value and variable, click on the
"Accept Split" button. You will then be able to use the splitting
options in the regular Histograms
and Scatter Plot routines.
Dismiss
Once you have chosen and accepted the split, or if
you do not wish to choose one at this point, you may click on the "Dismiss"
button to close the window. It is fine to keep it open, too, if you wish
to change your splits often.
Statistics
Checking the statistics box will pop up another window
with the statistics for your chosen variable.
