I've had some success directly converting from Lyx to OpenOffice, from which one can save to Word. I needed to separate my Lyx document into header stuff, body, and tables. In general, stuff converted ok, except for citations. The equations convert but don't move over into Word when then converting from OpenOffice to Word. Obviously this is a big issue since a primary reason for using Latex is for the equations.
