UC Berkeley FODA/TRIPODS Institute soliciting applications for postdoctoral researchers

We are pleased to announce the new Foundations of Data Analysis (FODA) Institute at UC Berkeley. This is an NSF funded interdisciplinary effort to develop the theoretical foundations of data science through integrated research and training activities. The FODA Institute will focus on research and educational challenges in data science that lie at the interface between mathematics, statistics, and theoretical computer science. Here is a recent press release describing the project in the broader UC Berkeley context:

As part of this Institute, we are soliciting applications for postdoctoral researchers, to start July 2018. Postdoctoral researchers will be expected to work on interdisciplinary research challenges with FODA PIs Michael Mahoney, Bin Yu, Fernando Perez, Michael Jordan, and Peter Bartlett, as well as with the broader UC Berkeley community. Salaries and benefits are competitive.

Interested individuals should send a CV and a statement of research interests and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Michael Mahoney (mmahoney@stat.berkeley.edu). Review of applications will begin on by December 10, 2017.

(Also, I'm also involved with running the Fall 2018 program on Foundations of Data Science at the Simons Institute. Please consider applying for it too.)
