Note on Bringing in packages:

Troubleshooting (this works for PCs, and hopefully Macs):

• If you are working on a networked computer you don't have privileges to install a new package. Instead you can install packages locally to your "My Documents" or any other folder you have privileges to write to. (I will call it "My Documents" below with my account "epurdom", but just replace your specifications)
  1. Create a folder in "My Documents" called "RLib" to hold your libraries.
  2. Within R, install libraries with the following command:

     > install.package(c("ISwR","gregmisc"),lib="C:/Documents and Settings
     /epurdom/My Documents/RLib")

     > library(ISwR,lib.loc="C:/Documents and Settings/epurdom/
     My Documents/RLib")

     > library(gregmisc,lib.loc="C:/Documents and Settings/epurdom/
     My Documents/RLib")

• If you do not know how to write the location of your file (C:/...), you can also change your working directory within R so you don't have to type it all.
  1. Within R, go to "File", and scroll down to "Change dir...". A new screen should pop up.
  2. Click on "Browse", and find the folder you want to be the default place R looks for files, etc. ("My Documents" in the above example)
  3. Type

     > getwd()
     [1] "C:/Documents and Settings/epurdom/My Documents"
     

     This will tell you how to write the name of the folder you are in.
