You are strongly encouraged to work on homework problems in study groups. You can learn a lot by discussing with your fellow students. Even if you are fine working by yourself, you will be able to solidify your understanding by explaining what you know to others.
To encourage working in groups, the following policy will be adopted for the remainder of the semester, starting with Problem Set #7:
- 1) You may form study groups each with up to 3 people.
- 2) Each group needs to write up only ONE solution set. Make sure to put down the names of all group members on your solution set.
- 3) Each member of a group of size k should write up the solutions for approximately 1/k of each problem set. The person writing up the solution for a given problem should put his/her name next to that solution.
- 4) All members of a study group will receive the same score for each problem set.
- 5) If any member of a study group commits an act of academic misconduct, then all members of the group will be held responsible.
