STAT 155: Game Theory (Fall 2008)

Prerequisites: Undergraduate courses in linear algebra and probability. If you can solve linear equations and know what is the expectation of a random variable, you're in.

Instructions for final: Date - Tuesday, 12/16/2008. Time - 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Location: 145 McCone. Come with: bluebook(s), calculator. Cheat sheets not allowed. Special office hours: Monday, 12/15/2008, 3:00 - 4:00 in 333 Evans.


Homeworks: Due in class every Thursday, unless otherwise noted. Late homeworks will not be accepted.
Midterm: Tuesday, October 14. In class.
Final exam: Tuesday, December 16, 5-7 pm. Location: 145 McCone.
Grading: 50% on final, 30% on midterm, 20% on homeworks.
Letter grade: Based on your performance in comparison to others (that is, "graded on the curve").

Syllabus: Combinatorial games, two-person zero-sum games, von Neumann's minimax theorem, two-person general sum games, Nash equilibria, Nash's theorem. If time permits, one or more of the following topics: Games in coalition form, Shapley values, social choice.
