Pradeep Ravikumar

My name is Pradeep Kumar Ravikumar. Inspite of the innocent sounding name, yes it does have many Kumars. And inspite of the grey text foreground, yes I do love non-sequiturs.

I obtained my PhD from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. My advisor there was John Lafferty. While at CMU, I also worked with William Cohen, Stephen Fienberg and Larry Wasserman.

PhD Thesis: Approximate Inference, Structure Learning and Feature Estimation in Markov Random Fields. Honorable Mention, ACM SIGKDD Dissertation Award. Honorable Mention, CMU School of Computer Science Distinguished Dissertation Award.

I'm a postdoc with Martin Wainwright and Bin Yu.

I will be joining the Department of Computer Science at UT Austin as an assistant professor in Fall 2009.
