Remotely shutting down your machine

Yes, you can power off your Linux machine remotely (if you have root access). This is handy if you need to have a machine on for remote access for a period of time but then want to shut it off, e.g., to save power. Just do:

/sbin/shutdown -h now

Keywords: remote, power off, shut down, turn off
