Hi! I'm Mike Higgins. I am a PhD candidate at University of California at Berkeley. My research interests include exact inference, causal inference, and clustering. I especially like to make connections between problems in these fields and combinatorial optimization.

Papers

Higgins, M.J., R.L. Rivest and P.B. Stark, 2011. "Sharper p-values for Stratified Post-Election Audits," Statistics, Politics, and Policy: Vol. 2: Iss. 1, Article 7.

Talks

Exact Inference using Stratified Random Samples and the 0-1 Knapsack Problem. Joint Statistical Meetings. Miami, FL. August 4, 2011.

R Packages

Here are a list of R packages that I have authored and that are posted on The Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN). In the near future, I wish to create a 0-1 knapsack solver package and an exact inference using stratified random samples package.
