Kristin Porter

Dr. van der Laan

 

Kristin Porter received her PhD in Biostatistics in 2011 under the supervision of Professor Mark J. van der Laan. She is primarily interested in causal inference methods. Kristin worked on targeted maximum likelihood estimation for semi-parametric models of multiplicative variable importance. She received an NIH Genomic Training grant to support this work. Kristin received a B.A. in Mathematics from Colgate University in 1993 and an M.P.P. from the University of Chicago in 1999. Before entering UC Berkeley in 2006, Kristin worked for many years in education and social policy research, using experimental and quasiexperimental methods to evaluate the effectiveness of public policies and programs. She is currently a senior associate at MDRC.
