Interdisciplinary Stochastic Processes Colloquium Tuesday November 15; 4.10 - 5.00 room 60 Evans Speaker: Amin Saberi (Stanford) Title: "Power-law Networks: An Algorithmic Perspective" Abstract: I will talk about the structural properties of the Internet, WWW, and other complex network and their algorithmic implications. In particular, I will study the expansion and spectral gap of power-law networks and its effect on the performance of the basic algorithms such as routing or searching. I will also briefly discuss the spread of viruses and the epidemic threshold in power-law graphs. Dinner, 6.00pm, Pomegranate restaurant, 1585 University Ave. Contact David Aldous (aldous@stat).
