Querying Sensor Networks

Joe Hellerstein

UC Berkeley Computer Science

Abstract

I will survey some of our ongoing work on querying networked data sources, including both "tiny" networks of wireless sensors, and global networks of peer-to-peer Internetworked computers. The work blends challenges in databases and networking, and also incorporates a need for statistical methods to handle data reduction, lost communications, and noise. I will gloss over our existing research results in favor of providing context for discussions on integrating statistical approaches into the work.
