We have a winner!

Thanks to everyone who voted on this year's great t-shirt designs. The votes have been counted and the winning design is t-shirt #1. The design has been changed slightly and the final version can be seen below. The design will be printed on a light blue shirt and be 8-10 inches tall.

If you are interested in ordering the 2009 Statistics Department T-Shirt, please send an email to tshirt@stat.berkeley.edu. Include the number of shirts that you wish to buy and the sizes. We will be selling small, medium and large shirts for $16 and extra large shirts for $18. We want to place our order soon, so please email us by MONDAY MAY 4, 5pm if you want to order a shirt. As always we will be ordering a limited number of extra shirts.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a design to the T-Shirt Contest. If you had an idea but didn't get it in on time, make sure to submit it next year. In the meantime, this year we have three great designs. To vote for your favorite, send an email to tshirt@stat.berkeley.edu. In the subject line write "2009 T-shirt Contest Vote" and the number of your favorite design. Be sure to cast your vote by THIS FRIDAY, April 10th at 5 pm.

The 2009 T-Shirt Committee

Spring has arrived: people are sneezing; houses are grudgingly cleaned; and T-shirts are bare. While the department can't do much to help you with either the sneezing or the cleaning, we might be able to do something about the T-shirts.

It's time for the annual stat department T-shirt contest! We need a design for the department T-shirt, and we're asking you to help us. If you have any interesting ideas --a joke, an interesting picture that came up in your work, anything -- that you think would look good on a T-shirt, send it our way. Past designs have ranged from funny to math-y. Great designs become classics, and you'll see them being worn for years to come. The winner receives a free T-shirt, years of bragging rights, and artistic immortality.

Be creative, have fun with it, and send your designs to tshirt@stat.berkeley.edu by our NEW deadline of Friday, April 3, 2009. If you prefer to do a paper copy, give it to one of Moorea, Richard, or James in person or put it in one of their mailboxes.
