About Berkeley

Berkeley is situated in the East San Francisco Bay. Downtown Berkeley is about half an hour by BART, the subway system, from San Francisco (and about an hour from the airport.) The city stretches west all the way to the bay; to the east is Tilden National Park; to the south is Oakland.

The city of Berkeley is nothing if not eclectic. Former and current residents include Allan Ginsberg, Mario Savio, Robert Crumb, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Whoopi Goldberg, the Unabomber, that guy from the Counting Crows, Ben Affleck and too many Nobel Prize winners to mention.
