Degrees
The Group in Biostatistics offers programs leading to both the
Masters of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy degree. These programs are appropriate for students who have a strong mathematical and statistical background with a focus in the biological sciences, or who hold degrees in the biological sciences with a focus in mathematics and statistics.
Additionally, the Group in conjunction with other departments on the Berkeley campus, offers a PhD in Biostatistics with a Designated Emphasis in Computational and Genomic Biology (DE-CGB), and a PhD in Biostatistics with a Designated Emphasis in Computational Science and Engineering (DE-CSE). For information on these options, please view our page on the Biostatistics PhD with a Designated Emphasis.
Students interested in a masters degree emphasizing development of skills in both biostatistics and epidemiology might choose the
MPH degree in Epidemiology/Biostatistics offered through the School of Public Health. More information on this option is available here and in School of Public Health publications.
