For the past 25 years, the statistics department has held a t-shirt sale to provide funds for a variety of SGSA activities. There is a competition every spring organized by the t-shirt committee. This year, the committee consisted of Yoram Gat, Peter Scheirer and me. We encouraged people to submit designs, which were then voted on by students, faculty and staff. After the selection of a design, the committee then handled the orders and arranged the printing and distribution of the t-shirts.
The winner of the 2000 competition is PhD student Chyng-Lan Liang. Chyng's graphic work may look familiar because she also submitted the winning entry in 1996. Bless her artistic talents!
The 2000 sale is now over, but the competition will begin next Spring semester, so start warming up those creative juices. Furthermore, if there is enough demand, we will also sell t-shirts from previous years.
