I love mathematics, just as some other people love video games. There is no glory in that.
The picture you see on your right is an old photograph of Calcutta, my hometown. A friend once lamented, "Wow, you come from Calcutta, that's so exotic! When people ask me where I come from, I've to just say, like, Minnesota." I think Minnesota is exotic.
I got my Ph.D. from Stanford in 2005. My thesis advisor was Persi Diaconis, who, as many people know, is a very interesting person. I am not that interesting.
Surprisingly, I lead a very exciting life. It's hard to explain. |
